CMYK → Pantone

Find the nearest Pantone match for given CMYK values.

How this works

The converter finds the nearest Pantone Plus Series spot color to your CMYK input by computing RGB distance against ~1,300 approximated Pantone entries. Lower distance values mean a closer visual match; distances above ~30 indicate the input falls between Pantone families and you should treat the suggestion as a starting point.

The top three nearest matches are shown so you can pick the closest fit for your run — for example, when the closest match is a specialty (metallic, fluorescent) color you may prefer the second-best conventional match.

Common questions

When do I actually need to switch from CMYK to a spot color?

Brand-critical colors (logos, packaging), specialty effects (metallics, fluorescents), and any color that falls outside the CMYK gamut. Spot inks are also more economical for large flat areas of a single color than building it from CMYK.

How accurate is the “nearest Pantone” suggestion?

The dataset is a published approximation, not a colorimetric match. For production work, verify with a Pantone Color Bridge guide on the paper stock you'll actually print on.
